‘Tu Hwnt / Beyond 1’ is the first in a series of engravings that imagine a view up Bwlch Llanberis in North Wales. The tower in the print is based upon Dolbadarn Castle, and the screen of branches recollects a view of the castle from the woods which rise above it to the west. The engraving was made from lemonwood and I have hand-burnished each print in the edition to hand-torn sheets of 250 gsm white Somerset Satin paper. The sheets measure approximately 15 x 15 cm. The ink used is Hawthorn Stay Open carbon black.
