Traeth Lafan
Limited edition linocut print (unframed)
15.5 x 10 cm (printed area)
Number of prints in the edition: 25
Traeth Lafan is an area of intertidal sands and mudflats that form the southern shore of the Afon Menai where the ‘river’ exits the straits between Ynys Môn (Anglesey) and the mainland of North Wales. The view looks west from the beach towards where the straits narrow at Bangor and Menai Bridge.
Each print in the edition has been hand-pressed to Somerset Satin with a hand-held baren and a silver spoon. Somerset Satin is a gentle-textured 250 gsm English archival paper mould-made from 100 % cotton at St. Cuthbert’s Mill, Wells. I have used Hawthorn Stay Open carbon black oil-based ink and hand-torn the sheets to size to create faux deckles. The sheets measure approximately 23 x 18 cm.
The edition is limited to 25 prints in total, each of which is signed, dated, numbered and titled in pencil beneath the printed area.
