The Old Folk
Limited edition linocut print (unframed)
29 x 16.5 cm
Number of prints in the edition: 19
Exhibited at Derby Print Open, 2023
‘The Old Folk’ looks south from the Neolithic stone circle at Castlerigg, Cumbria, towards Dodd Crag and The Benn. I tend to think of the Neolithic and Bronze Age inhabitants of Britain as the old folk — the three stones depicted here remembering, perhaps, three of them.
The prints are an original limited edition linocut. They have been individually hand-pressed to Awagami Hosho paper using a baren and silver spoon. The ink used is Hawthorn Carbon Black oil-based ink. Hosho is a bright white mid-weight paper (90gsm) and the edition is pressed on sheets measuring 39.5 x 28 cm.
Each print is signed, dated, titled, and editioned in pencil directly beneath the image.
