Boundary I

£100.00

Limited edition linocut print (unframed)

15 cm x 10 cm (printed area)

Number of prints in the edition: 9

Marking the limit, or edge of something, boundaries, like borders, contain and exclude. Boundary I is the first in a series of prints that are based upon a photo I took in a snow-covered Turkish field one Christmas Day. It is a study in grey and a blurring of lines in which we see beyond what is barred.

I produced the print from a grey lino block which I cross-hatched using a small v-shaped gouge. Each print was then hand-pressed with a silver spoon to Kozo Natural Select — a lightweight (45 gsm) archival Japanese washi paper made from 80 per cent Kozo and 20 per cent unsized alpha cellulose which I hand-tore to approximately 25.5 x 21.5 cm. The sheets have a frayed edge. The ink used is Hawthorn Stay Open Carbon Black.

Each print in the edition is individually numbered, signed, dated, and titled in soft pencil beneath the printed area.
