Y Gogarth
Monotype print on Zerkall paper (unframed)
Printed area 10.5 × 16 cm
Edition of 1 (unique print)
Y Gogarth is of a view from Aber Ogwen towards Y Gogarth (The Great Orme), Llandudno, Cymru. It is a unique print created by laying a sheet of Zerkall paper onto an inked glass plate and then ‘pressing’ with pencils to lift ink from the plate and onto the paper.
Zerkall is a smooth, soft-white, mid-weight (145 gsm) paper mould-made from part cotton rag. I have hand-torn the sheet to approximately 20 × 26.5 cm. The ink used Cranfield’s Traditional Letterpress Seville Black. The print is numbered (1/1), titled, and signed in pencil beneath the printed area.
