Ty Hir
Monotype print on Zerkall paper (unframed)
Printed area 41 × 28 cm
Edition of 1 (unique print)
Ty Hir is based upon a pastel drawing that I made of a Welsh longhouse located a little to the west of Brynsiencyn on Ynys Môn (Anglesey). Over the years, I have often drawn the house and each year it becomes that little bit less stable and a little more obscured by vegetation. At one time, it would have housed a family alongside their livestock.
The print is a unique piece created by pressing through the reverse side of the paper with pencils onto an inked plate. The paper is Zerkall Printing — a smooth, soft-white, mid-weight (145 gsm) paper mould-made from part cotton rag — and I have hand-torn the sheet to approximately 53.5 × 38.5 cm. The ink used is Hawthorn Stay Open, Carbon Black. The print is signed and titled within the image itself.
The print is unframed and unmounted and because of its size it will be mailed out on purchase in a stout cardboard postal tube and further protected with glassine paper.
