The Old Folk

£150.00

Limited edition linocut print (unframed)

29 x 16.5 cm

Number of prints in the edition: 19

Exhibited at Derby Print Open, 2023

‘The Old Folk’ looks south from the Neolithic stone circle at Castlerigg, Cumbria, towards Dodd Crag and The Benn. I like to refer to the Neolithic and Bronze Age inhabitants of Britain as The Old Folk, and these three stones within the circle have always struck me as being something of a family group.

The prints are an original limited edition linocut. They have been individually hand-pressed to Awagami Hosho paper using a baren and silver spoon. The ink used is Hawthorn Carbon Black oil-based ink; the paper has a lightly textured upper surface and a chequered underside. I have hand-torn each sheet in the edition to create faux deckles; the sheets measure 39.5 x 28 cm.

Each print is signed, dated, titled, and editioned in pencil directly beneath the image.
